My own way I make $1000 a month extra
Right now the way I make $1000 a month extra is by blogging! I truly can’t believe it. I only have time to work about 10 hours a week on my blog so I am VERY happy with this extra $1000!
If you are interested in starting your own blog, I would encourage you to start one now! There won’t be a better time in the future, and even if you’re like me and have a job and kids, you can still start one and make money with working on it very part-time.
Side note: If you want to start a blog but you have doubts or fears about starting a blog, read this.
I plan on increasing the hours I spend blogging when my daughter starts school but for now I am thrilled with this fun way to make an extra $1000 a month.
You can start your own blog in about 15 minutes – here’s my easy tutorial.
Oh and blogging is a totally cheap business to start up – you only need web hosting (this is the best one – and you get a free domain name) to begin and that’s only about the price of one latte a month!
Now for other fun ideas to help you make $1000 a month…
8 Ways to make $1000 a month
1. Sell crafts online.
If you are a crafty or DIY type, consider using your natural creativity to make money from home. You could make and sell masks, jewelry, knitware, woodwork, etc.
In the middle of this pandemic, masks are selling like crazy. They are quick to make, and easy and light to ship.
If you’re interested in selling crafts online but want to brush up on your skills (or learn new ones) check out Udemy – it’s such a fun site! They have over 100,000 online video courses to choose from.
You can learn photography, drawing, painting, woodworking, clay sculpting, crochet, knitting, jewelry making and design, and lots more. They offer a paid membership with more classes but there are also lots of free classes available here.
Another way to learn arts and crafts skills that you can monetize is through online courses on Creativebug.
They offer lots of free classes and right now they’re giving a special promo of 3 months of unlimited Creativebug classes for $5 – super cheap. One of the classes I fell in love with is how to make summery diaper covers/bloomers. They are so adorable! And would be very sellable too.

2. Stitch Fix stylist.
If you love fashion, and you always know what accessories go with what outfit, this would be the perfect way for you to make extra money.
Again, this is not me. I seem to have made a post all about side hustles I would NOT be good at. Lol
Work online on your own time, and get paid to put outfits together for clients. You would be a remote employee of Stitch Fix and not a contractor and you would have opportunities for education and training, and employer –sponsored events.
You can apply to be a Stitch Fix stylist here.
3. Personal grocery shopper or driver.
With most people staying home as much as possible during this pandemic, more people are getting groceries delivered or ordering online and doing a grocery pickup than ever before.
I am SO grateful for businesses like Instacart! We haven’t been inside a grocery store in almost two months.
Personal grocery shoppers and grocery delivery people are in BIG demand right now. This would be a flexible job where you can work when you want to make $1000 a month.
Instacart is available in most cities, you can become a shopper for Instacart HERE.
4. Sell services on Fiverr.
Fiverr is a huge online marketplace for freelance services. If there is a skill that you have that could be offered online, Fiverr is a great way to put yourself out there and be seen.
Some freelance services you could offer on Fiverr:
- Graphic design
- Resume assistance
- Ghost writing
- Email copy
- Social media graphics templates
- Online lessons
- Arts and crafts
- Data entry
- Virtual assistant
- And much more
There are over 250 categories of online services that are offered through Fiverr so there is very likely something that would fit YOUR particular skills and interests! You can sign up for Fiverr here.

5. Make $1000 a month as a Nanny.
These are unprecedented times right now with the pandemic and people are stuck with finding childcare. Many cities have closed all schools for this entire school year, and we still don’t know what’s going to happen come September.
There are many people who are forced to work outside the home right now including front line workers, as well as people who can’t afford to stay home 100% of the time.
With schools closed and kids at home, all families are struggling with this to some extent, and some families have been strongly impacted.
If you are able and it’s safe to do so, consider becoming a nanny for the children of a front line worker. You could also be a nanny to children whose parents work from home.
I have friends where the husband and wife are both doctors currently working from home. They have needed to hire a nanny temporarily during this time to look after their kids at home while they work.
6. Professional gift wrapper.
This will be a seasonal way to make an extra $1000 but you would be in HIGH demand in November and December. If you are detail oriented and like to make to make things pretty, this would be a great creative side hustle for you.
If you start up a business as a professional gift wrapper, focus on where you will make the most money. No, this is not gift wrapping for your friends (though I would pay a friend to gift wrap for me – my wrapping looks like my 4-year-old did it).
You will make the most money and easily be able to make $1000/month if you focus on corporate clients. Check out this article on a professional gift wrapper in Atlanta for inspo.
7. Shovel driveways.
This is another seasonal side gig, which is awesome because you might not want a side hustle that is year round.
For a couple months of the year (or what seems like endless months where we live), you can shovel driveways in your neighborhood to make money.
To scale up, hire 2 or 3 teenagers as sub-contractors in different neighborhoods than you and take a percentage for finding the jobs.
8. Mow lawns.
In the warm months, you can make money by mowing people’s lawns.
You could start a side hustle and offer in your neighborhood. Another option is to try neighborhoods in your city or town that have larger properties/lawns or approach nursing homes.
Hiring a couple of other people as sub-contractors will help you make that $1000 even faster!
