MLM Success Stories

It’s no secret that it’s not easy to have MLM success. I have heard statistics that 99% of MLM businesses fail/lose money.

I couldn’t find a good source for that bleak stat, but according to Fundera, only 25% of MLM businesses turn a profit. Still not good at all.

How can you be on the positive side of that statistic?

How can you succeed at MLM?

Q: Tell us about you and your journey to MLM success – What is your MLM business, when did you start, how much you work, etc.

Bethany:

My name is Bethany Lieberman.  I am a nurse educator and advocate for Green Compass Global, a hemp wellness MLM company.

My journey into the MLM industry started in October of 2020 and it really began with a specific product.

It started as a personal health journey to find a solution for my migraine headaches.  I was looking for a more natural approach, as I had tried many traditional pharmacological products and procedures that didn’t work.

I found great results with a certain plant-based product from this very new company that virtually no one had heard of.

This was also a point in time where so many were looking for natural ways to keep themselves and their families safe and healthy during the pandemic.

As a nurse educator, I jumped into research and wanted to find out everything I could about this product and company.  I learned that this product was heavily backed by evidence and in high demand.

This MLM company, their vertical integration, organic farming, transparency, and commitment to helping others live better resonated with me and aligned with my personal values.

I knew I could use my love of plants and knowledge as a nurse to tell others about my experience. I was confident it could help them and their families.

How I started my MLM Business

I officially started my business by purchasing a business kit.

The kit cost $299 and came with full sized products, marketing materials and a link to my own website.

From there I planned a live video unboxing of the contents of my kit.  It was my first ever live video on social media, and I got my first customer orders that night.

I must admit that I felt confident educating others as a nurse but had no business experience and minimal knowledge of how to use social media.

How I started was by watching virtual training my company provided and enrolling in weekly zoom calls.

I searched YouTube videos on how to use social media for business such as attraction marketing.

Other than posting a funny meme or picture of my children, I really didn’t know how to use social media or any marketing strategies.

Because it is an online business and I did not have a storefront, it was up to me to figure out how I would connect with others to offer them solutions.

I also had to learn how to brand myself, what would make me stand out among others in the industry.

I used my love of plants to do just that.

Q: I understand if you don’t want to share exact numbers about your MLM business income, but IF this is something you share, we would love to hear what your average online income is per month

Bethany:

The company I work for is a wellness company and most of my pay comes from commissions I generate from the sale of each product sold.

I sell between $1500-$3000 dollars each month in products, but the pay varies, usually $1000 or more.

The benefit of working for a MLM company is that selling and making commissions is just one way to earn money.

There are multiple different ways and levels to earn besides just commissions which influences the amount I am paid.

I earn free product credits and discounts, bonuses, incentives, and a portion of my teams’ performance.

I get paid every two weeks by direct deposit.

My pay usually doubles during the holidays November through January as wellness products make a great gift for all ages and stages.

The slowest time for online sales in the summertime June through August.

Q: How do you balance work on your MLM business with family (and your job)?

Bethany:

Time blocking and planning ahead is how I balance my work, business, and family life.

Working full time as an educator and mom to two school aged kiddos, I realized that my MLM would be a part-time business for me.

First of all, I had to decide what time blocks of the day I would commit to working and connecting with clients.

I work an hour or two in the evenings after my children have gone to bed, and weekend mornings.

I use Sundays as my day to plan out the week’s income producing activities and my social media in advance using a planner.

The benefit of working for yourself is that you are not on another person’s timetable.  You ultimately get to decide how little or how much you work. You can work your business full time if you choose.

For example, if my child has a school concert on a night when I would normally be working my business, no problem, no big deal!  I can enjoy the school event knowing I can put extra time in the next day instead, it’s very flexible.

It does take some discipline to be consistent and hold yourself accountable to putting in the time.  If you are not consistent, do not make sales, you will not get paid.

Including Family as a Part of a Successful MLM Business

My family members often accompany me to events, helping me set up, handing out business cards and offer samples.

Since the products I offer can be used by all ages, they will demonstrate the products in live videos with me at home as well.

My MLM business is kept separate from my full-time work at the university, I do not promote or market to my coworkers or students.

My coworkers are aware that I have an online health wellness business and on occasion, will ask me advice or seek me outside of work for a solution for themselves or a family member.

I think it is only natural for curiosity to occur and I never travel without samples in my bag in case someone is in need or expresses interest.

Q: What was the hardest thing about figuring out MLM success?

Bethany:

Getting sales when first launching your business is easy. All your family and friends are eager to support you and try what you have to offer initially, but that is not a sustainable way to run your business.

The hardest thing about finding success with MLM is that you have to connect with others, talking to people you don’t know to get sales.

Yes, I am a nurse educator, but talking to strangers to showcase products and ask for a sale is the hardest part.

It is a numbers game, the more people I talk to about the products, the more sales I will generate.

For me, that meant moving past my family and friends and getting out of my comfort zone to intentionally meet others in the community.

I joined several women and business groups, local mom’s groups, and had to learn how to network.

I also had to learn that using social media alone would not get me very far, that in person events were important.

Part of my weekly planning includes signing up for both online events and in person events such as holistic health fairs and vendor groups.

Q: Why do you think you have succeeded at MLM where other people haven’t?

Bethany:

I believe I have sustained MLM success because I am always learning and pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

Starting out, I had zero sales experience but genuine passion for plants and helping others live and feel better.

I truly believe if your heart is open to listen to what the pain points are for others with empathy and without judgement, then it is easier to offer a solution to help them rather than just pushing for a sale.

It does take practice and patience to take a step back, listen, ask the right questions, and not just jump in spewing everything about your MLM products.

Especially when you are really excited about what you have to offer!

Q: What is your best advice for how to how to succeed at MLM?

Bethany:

You do not need ANY sales experience or be a pushy salesperson to be successful in an MLM business.

Let me repeat, you need zero sales experience!

You do not need to be in the health care field, anyone can succeed at MLM!

Find a product or solution you are passionate about and find a company that matches your values.

Your story and your excitement are all you need to get started.

Being consistent and finding ways to connect with others are key!
