Easy Jobs for Lazy People
This topic could be a bit delicate.
How can I decide that certain jobs are for lazy people?
I am fully expecting to get emails and comments back from very hard-working individuals who do some of the jobs I share below.
I bet there are lazy people in every profession. There are people who coast in every field out there, from the jobs that are considered easy to ones needing multiple degrees.
You don’t have to be a lazy person to want a job with minimal effort.

16 Jobs for Lazy People to Check Out Now
Here is a list of jobs to get paid (sometimes very well – see #15!) without too much effort.
1. Get Paid to Take Surveys
If you want to become a millionaire by taking online surveys for money, think again.
(Read this post on 18 work-from-home jobs that pay well instead.)
But for a casual job for lazy people, you can’t get much easier than this.
There are a lot of scam survey companies out there, but there are also some that are legit survey companies.
This is one place I have used to make money taking surveys.
Taking surveys for money is also a good option of an easy job for lazy introverts.
You don’t need to interact with people, no phone calls; it’s just you and your cell phone or computer.
As a survey taker, you get paid in gift cards or cash for your personal opinion.

2. Mystery Shopping
Mystery shopping is one of the easiest jobs for lazy people.
I know this first-hand – I have been a mystery shopper! For my review of mystery shopping, read this.
You don’t need any experience or education for this side hustle.
This is not a lazy job that pays well, meaning you won’t make 6-figures as a secret shopper.
But if you are quick, efficient, and good at it, you can get your hourly rate to a good level (I was able to).
You also can get freebies as part of your mystery shopping assignment. For the outlets I was going to, I usually got a lunch or dinner. A friend of mine regularly got his take-out pizzas paid for by his mystery shopping gigs!

3. Sell Used Goods on Decluttr
You can make a good part-time or even full-time income flipping used goods online.
It all depends on how hard you want to work.
I know, I know, this post is all about jobs for lazy people.
And you can be lazy and make money selling used goods.
But you will make more money if you put more time and effort into it.
You can start with selling your own things that you wanted to get rid of anyways.
Then you can look for items in thrift stores to flip and sell.
Even better, you can drive around neighborhoods in your city and see what people have put curbside to get rid of. There can be amazing treasures to clean up and sell online, with zero cost to you.
Get started with Decluttr here.
4. Make Money Watching Videos
You can get paid to watch videos with Swagbucks.

5. Test Websites for Usability
This is another of the jobs for lazy people that I tried out myself (hey, why have I done so many of these…?)
Even though sometimes it might not seem like it, all the big websites care about user experience. Well small websites do as well, but big sites pay money to have regular people test out their sites for user-friendliness.
How this typically works is you record yourself talking as you navigate a specific website.
You would say things like, “I find the font on that link hard to read”, or “I couldn’t find where the contact information was for that brand”.
You can also say positive things too, design elements that are working well.
The companies I saw that hire usability testers paid up to $30 an hour.
While this initially sounds like one of the laziest jobs that pay well, there won’t be tons of work. You won’t be able to work 7-hour days as a website usability tester; it will be more casual work.
Read where to apply to be a usability tester here.
6. Pet Sit and Dog Walk with Rover
One of the best jobs for lazy people who like animals is to become a pet sitter with Rover.
You get paid to feed, walk, and take care of pets.
If you like dogs, you can also apply to be a dog walker with Rover. You are paid to get outside and get exercise – it’s pretty sweet!

Some pet sitting gigs with Rover are short-term, and some are longer-term.
There are some jobs with Rover where if you want you can look after the pet at your own home while the owner is away. Talk about an easy job for lazy people! You get to stay home doing whatever you want and make money while taking care of a sweet animal.
This is an ideal job for introverts who are pet lovers.
7. Jobs for Smart but Lazy People: Get Paid to Read Books
Would you like to lie around your house reading books, sipping a cup of tea or coffee, and make money?
There are legitimate ways to get paid to read books.
You can become a book reviewer or book editor, and proofreading is another option (but isn’t a great job for lazy people because you have to build your own business).
Some places require a degree or experience but not all do.
There are companies that will pay you to review books that you’ve read, without previous experience in book reviewing. You often have to provide a sample of your writing, but this is an easy job for lazy people if you already love reading.
Find out where to apply in this post.
8. Sell Feet Pics
Got feet?
This is for sure one of the easiest jobs for lazy people.
Take some nice photos of your feet, post on a reputable feet pic site, get viewed, get paid.
Easy peasy, footsy teasy.
If you want to know more about why people want to buy feet pics and the best places to sell feet pics read this post.
Or jump right into creating a profile and getting started with selling feet pics here.
9. Instacart Shopper
There is a huge demand for Instacart shoppers and that’s not decreasing anytime soon.
If you can grocery shop and follow instructions, you can work for Instacart as a personal shopper.
This is a fun job for lazy people who want to be out-and-about, and don’t want a job where they are stuck at home all day.
You can read my Instacart review here.
10. Airbnb Host
You don’t have to own a separate property to make money as an Airbnb host.
All you need is a spare room and the ability to do laundry between guests.
I have two friends that own Airbnbs and they are constantly booked! I was honestly a bit surprised because their properties are not in the most desirable cities/neighborhoods.
One friend has a separate property they rent out (a small house).
The other friend rents a single room in her house. She shares a washroom with her guest(s) and makes them breakfast in the morning.
This really is one of the easiest jobs for lazy people. If you are already cleaning your own house, it’s not much extra work to clean the extra room for your guest.
You can make a great income if you are well booked, so this can potentially be a lazy job that pays well.

11. Luxury House Sitter
You can get paid to stay in people’s fabulous homes while they are away.
I housesat after I finished university, and I loved it.
There I was, a broke recent student just starting out. I was making good money at my new job, but was paying off student debt.
If I wasn’t housesitting, I would have stayed in a small apartment at first.
But these homes were huge, in great neighborhoods, and came with perks like hot tubs under the stars.
I even watched the northern lights one night from the hot tub!
Housesitting was a great way to save extra money with minimal effort.
Get started with housesitting here.
12. Line Stand-In
People hate waiting in lines.
If you don’t, you could make good money with one of the easiest jobs for lazy people – line stand-in.
Whether it’s for concert tickets (does anybody still stand in lines for those?) or the latest Apple product, you can make extra cash just by waiting in lines.
Sign up on Taskrabbit here and list your services as a line stand-in. This is a great way to make easy money with little effort.
13. Test Subject
There are local companies that will pay you to be a test subject for new products like shampoos, lotions, etc.
You would apply to become a product tester, follow their protocol, and report back on any positive or negative effects.
14. Truck Driver
Fun fact: When I was a kid, I wanted to be a ballerina and a truck driver when I grew up. I assumed the two jobs could go together quite nicely.
If you love to drive, and love the freedom of being out on the open road, a truck driver could be a perfect job.
It’s also a high paying job that you can do either locally, or long distance to see more of the country.
15. High-Paid Health Surveys
One of the best paid jobs for lazy people is to take gigs answering health surveys or being part of health panels.
From the comfort of your own home, you can get paid very well to help researchers and policy makers by answering questions on specific health conditions. Some surveys are for caregivers of people with the conditions.
When I did a quick browse today, there was a study that paid $225 USD/hour to take part in an interview about the flu.
There was another highly paid study for people to share about their healthcare experiences in a virtual focus group. The pay was $330.
Get started here and see what opportunities are available.
16. Airtasker
Sign up on Airtasker and browse the available gigs to find an Airtasker task you’d like to do.
There are plenty of jobs in different categories, so you’ll likely be able to find something you want to do, even if you’re looking for jobs for lazy people.
There are options for cleaning, cooking, delivery, pet care, laundry, makeup artist, and lots more.
Airtasker is a similar platform to Taskrabbit.
You could sign up and offer services or browse odd jobs on both to make more money.
17. Movie Extra
Depending on where you live, it can be surprisingly easy to get a job as a background extra.
There is a LOT of waiting around time, where you are literally doing nothing.
You get to talk to interesting people, catch up on your reading, you get fed, and you get to do some acting!
