How can I stay motivated and stay on track to achieve my goals? That’s a question that many people ask themselves, especially when it feels like they’re stuck in a rut. 

It can be tough to stay motivated when your life is busy. You’re a mom, you have a home business or a work-from-home job. You’re trying to balance family and work, and it’s not easy. You you’re your kids, but you have ambition too and big goals for your business or your life.

If your motivation has been waning, there are ways to get back on track. This blog post will share six ways to stay motivated to achieve your goals when you’re a busy mom.

Ways to Stay Motivated Tip #1: Set Realistic Goals

How to stay motivated to succeed when you feel pulled in a million different directions as a mom?

We all have days where the motivation is low, and any progress feels like a victory. Setting realistic goals will help you achieve your ultimate destination, but they also provide us with something to strive towards when things get tough or there’s no movement toward achieving our goals.

The first step in setting realistic goals is to be clear about what you want to achieve. What are your ultimate goals? Write them down and be specific. Once you have a good idea of what you’re striving for, it’s time to break it down into smaller steps. This will help you create a roadmap of how you’ll get there, which is much more manageable.

You should also consider what resources are available to help you achieve those goals. This can include books, courses, or even an accountability partner who will keep track of your progress and encourage you when things get tough! If one resource isn’t working out for some reason, don’t be afraid to look elsewhere for another option that might work better.

When you’re ready, ask yourself: “Is this goal realistic?” If not, reconsider your approach and break it down into smaller steps until they are achievable! Now write out these goals on paper with a deadline attached to each one.

Ways to Stay Motivated Tip #2: Focus on What Is Important to You

Don’t let other people distract you from your goals.

This means that when someone asks you to do something that will keep you from achieving your goals, say “no thanks.”

You’re allowed to say no to social events, and you’re allowed to say no in your own business if you are swamped.

If it feels like something is taking away time or energy from achieving your goal, then take a step back and evaluate whether this distraction will help accomplish those goals in the long run.

For example, let’s say you’re trying to focus on creating content for your online business but keep getting interrupted by text messages and phone calls. It might be helpful to put your phone on silent mode for an hour or two while you work.

If you’re feeling stuck because of distractions around you (like social media), try setting up an account with an app like Freedom. Freedom blocks social media (you choose the settings) so that there isn’t any temptation during work hours!

Preserving your focus by being mindful of where your time goes is one of the best ways to stay motivated.

Ways to Stay Motivated Tip #3: Take Time to Recharge and Reflect

To achieve your goals, you need to be in a good place mentally and emotionally. This means taking time for yourself to relax and recharge.

Whether that means going for a walk, reading your favorite book, or spending time with family and friends, make sure you take some time each day to do something that makes you happy. When you’re feeling refreshed, it’ll be easier to stay focused on what’s important.

When you’re a mom of little ones at home, it can be hard to find this time for yourself. It’s important though, to your own mental health. Do the best you can. If your kids still nap (lucky you!), take the first 20 minutes after they’re down to enjoy a cup of coffee or read a book. Get to work after this mini break and you’ll feel much more motivated.

Reflection is another essential part of staying motivated. After all, how can you move forward if you don’t know where you’ve been? Spend some time thinking about past successes and failures; what worked well? What didn’t work as expected? This will help guide your future decisions and is a great way to stay motivated.

No matter how you choose to take time for yourself, make sure, it’s something that makes you happy. When you’re feeling refreshed, it’ll be easier to stay focused on what’s important. So get that book from the library, go for a walk around your neighborhood, and spend time with loved ones! You deserve it.

Ways to Stay Motivated Tip #4: Build a Support System

We all know that it can be tough to stay on track with our goals. Sometimes we lose focus, and other times the obstacles in our way seem too big to overcome. This is where having a support system comes in handy! 

An accountability partner is someone who you can rely on to help keep you accountable for your goals. They will motivate you and encourage you through the tough times and provide helpful feedback. An accountability partner will be there to listen, encourage, and remind you that your goals are worth pursuing, even if they seem far away right now.

They can help keep you on track. Accountability partners are great at keeping us on track with our goals. They do this by asking questions like “What did you accomplish today?” or “What did you do yesterday that helped you achieve this goal?”

If you know that someone will ask about your progress, you’re more likely to stick to your goals!

An accountability partner can be a friend or family member, but they don’t necessarily have to know you personally. Consider hiring a professional like a business coach or life coach to help you achieve your goals.

Ways to Stay Motivated Tip #5: Reward Yourself 

When we do something good, our brain gets a reward from dopamine. This makes us feel a boost after achieving success at whatever it was we had just accomplished. Why not help this reward feeling after completing a big task on our to-do list or working towards our goal?

This doesn’t have to be something big, like buying a new car. It can be as simple as taking yourself out for dinner or getting that mani/pedi you’ve been wanting.

It’s essential to recognize all of the hard work that goes into achieving our dreams, so don’t forget about celebrating those moments too. One of the ways to stay motivated is to pause and celebrate your wins, instead of rushing off to the next thing on your list.

Take a few minutes to reflect on what you’ve accomplished and pat yourself on the back – you deserve it! Then, go ahead and celebrate your success with some well-deserved self-praise.

You can do this by buying yourself a treat like a new book, but it doesn’t have to be anything extravagant.

If you’re going through financial difficulties right now and can’t afford something fancy just yet, then don’t worry! You could still reward yourself with something free such as listening to your favorite song while dancing around your room or taking a long bath.

The most important thing is to find something that makes you happy and helps you feel good about yourself. 

So, go out there and celebrate your successes! You’ve worked hard for them, and you deserve it.

Ways to Stay Motivated Tip #6: Practice Self-Compassion and Forgive Yourself 

Often, we’re our own worst critic, leading us to feel down about ourselves and unmotivated. It’s important to practice self-compassion, accept that you’re not perfect and give yourself some grace. 

Sometimes we can feel like we’re giving too much time to work and flopping as a parent. Other times we feel on with our parenting game, but guilty that we’re not putting in “enough” time to our business.

One of the most loving ways to stay motivated is to realize we are human and we are doing our best.

Self-compassion and forgiveness are essential for a happy, healthy life. When we’re hard on ourselves, it’s challenging to move forward and be productive. Often we’re our own worst critics, leading us to feel down about ourselves and unmotivated. It’s important to practice self-compassion, accept that you’re not perfect and give yourself some grace.

When you make a mistake, learn from it and move on. Forgiving yourself is another critical part of self-compassion.

Nobody is perfect, so don’t dwell on past failures. Accept that making mistakes is a part of life, and learn from them instead. When you forgive yourself, you’ll start to feel lighter and more at peace.

Practicing self-compassion and forgiving yourself can be difficult, but it’s worth it! When you’re kind to yourself, you’ll start to feel happier and more content.
