Easy Christmas Cookies with M&Ms
Need an easy Christmas dessert recipe?
You’ll love these Christmas M&M cookies!

I used to do elaborate baking at Christmas.
From layered shortbread bars, to twice-baked biscotti, and cut-out Christmas sugar cookies that I could spend the whole afternoon decorating.
Then I had a kid.
And my Christmas baking morphed into easy Christmas desserts like this peppermint chocolate cake.
And these Christmas cookies with red and green M&Ms.

So easy.
So delicious.
Kid-friendly to eat and make.
A total win for the busy mom around Christmas.
These cookies would be delicious with a mug of this homemade gingerbread latte (Starbucks copycat!)

Christmas M&M Cookie Ingredients
Here are the ingredients you need to make these M&M Christmas cookies:
- all-purpose flour (you can also use gluten-free all-purpose flour mix)
- baking soda
- salt
- butter
- granulated sugar (white sugar, coconut sugar, date sugar, erythritol, monk fruit, etc.)
- brown sugar
- vanilla extract
- eggs (free-range is always preferred!)
- Christmas M&M’s (red and green) (you can sometimes get them here year-round!)
- semi-sweet chocolate chips (or any type of chocolate chips you like)

If you are making these M&M cookies and it’s not around Christmas time, you can use regular M&Ms, or peanut M&Ms. I think I’ve seen Valentine M&Ms and Halloween M&Ms too – if you get pulled into all the festive things like I do. π
Oh and I just found out that there is a toasty vanilla M&Ms flavor – I want to try it!
That flavor wasn’t available when I checked, but these campfire s’mores M&Ms were. With the orange, black, and white colors, they’d make cute and yummy Halloween M&M cookies.
So many M&M cookie options!

M&M Christmas Cookie Tips

To make these M&M Christmas cookies gluten-free, use a gluten-free flour like this, in place of the all-purpose flour (1:1).
I was pretty sure that M&Ms are gluten-free but I doubled checked just to make sure.
And yes they are, for all my gluten-free buddies! The exceptions are pretzel M&Ms and crispy M&Ms – they are not gluten-free.
If you would like to use naturally-colored M&Ms, check out this post for delicious dye-free options.

To form the cookies, you’ll take rounded tablespoons of cookie dough and space them on your cookie sheet.
You can use a regular spoon, but I’d highly recommend doing the simple hack we used when I owned my bakery:
Ice cream scoops!
I have this set of three ice cream scoops, and I use them more for cookie dough than ice cream.

If you’re only going to get one cookie scoop, and the one I use the most for cookie recipes (including this one) is #40.
The ice cream scoops makes the cookies all the same size, which makes them bake evenly.
The cookie sheet can be lined with either parchment or silicone baking mats.
