Let’s get to it!
Fall Movies for Movie Night
We have to start with the movies!
Here is a list of the 11 best fall-themed movies for your fall movie night:
1. It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Oh Charlie Brown, with your bald head, and I have no clue how old you are. All the Charlie Brown movies are so lovable and this one is no exception. It’s a feel-good fall movie that’s perfect to watch with the kiddos.
2. Autumn in New York
This film has autumn written all over it. It’s about Autumn. In New York. A total tearjerker with restaurateur Richard Gere falling for terminally ill Winona Ryder. Beautiful fall scenes (and food scenes) abound.
3. Hocus Pocus
This classic Halloween film from the ‘90s stars Bette Midler, and Sarah Jessica Parker (pre-Sex and the City). This is a non-scary witch movie that is a cult classic for many who watch it every Halloween season.
4. Practical Magic
Practical Magic is another Halloween movie that didn’t do well when it first came out but later became a cult classic. I love pretty much any movie with Sandra Bullock in it, and Nicole Kidman is in it too. But this one is on the scary side, and wouldn’t be recommended for kids.
5. You’ve Got Mail
The backdrop of this Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks movie is fall in New York. Meg Ryan plays a Meg-Ryan-type character and it’s the perfect romcom fall movie.

6. Rudy
For people missing watching organized sports, watch one of the best fall movies about football. It’s based on a real-life underdog story about Rudy Ruttinger, whose dream it is to play football for the University of Notre Dame.
7. When Harry Met Sally
Other than the famous delicatessen scene (“I’ll have what she’s having”), this fall romcom is chock full of crunchy leaves and cozy sweaters. Fall movie bliss at its finest.
8. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Bitty Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley are too cute in this first of the Harry Potter movies. The Sorcerer’s Stone is obviously filled with witches and wizards, and it also takes place over Halloween. The Great Hall decked out with floating pumpkins, and various other Halloweeny décor.
9. Dan in Real Life
My favorite Steve Carell work ever, even over The Office (yes I said it). And that soundtrack. Filmed in Rhode Island in the fall, this fall movie is filled with quirky characters, beautiful settings, and lots of cozy autumn clothing.
10. E.T., The Extra-Terrestrial
This adorable kids’ movie makes the best fall movies list because it is also set over Halloween. I’m looking forward to watching this one with my daughter when she’s a little older (right now we’re about at the Great Pumpkin speed).
11. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
We’ll end with another classic fall movie about the Peanuts gang to watch with your family. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving is all about football, friends, and Thanksgiving.
