1. Oversized sweater, fuzzy hat, cute booties
A big cozy chunky sweater is a must on cold days.
Pair this cozy, baggy sweater, or this one, with your favorite jeans and boots.
To get that true oversized look, you might want to size up one or two sizes from your usual.
Add a fluffy hat like this one (I bought one in white and get so many compliments on it), and a pair of cool sunglasses (here’s our guide on the best winter sunglasses to fit your face), and you have a classic cozy winter ‘fit.
2. Animal print winter outfits
Make an ordinary black outfit, look stylish with accent pieces in animal print, like this pretty leopard print scarf.
This soft animal print coat can be worn with casual winter outfits, or dressed up with a winter skirt or dress and elegant thigh-high boots.
This cozy leopard print robe is for around the house, but who says you don’t want to look cute at home too?
3. Wool coat
Pure wool coats are not cheap.
But they are cozy and look great.
If you want a pure wool coat, but you’re on a budget for winter outfits, you could wait until the end of the season and snag one on a deep discount.
You can also find super cute and stylish wool blend coats, and wool-look coats that are very affordable.
Here are my favorites:
- Cuuuuute wool-blend pea coat with a hood
- Long length wool-blend winter trench coat
- Love this belted wool-blend coat in red

4. Winter outfits featuring (vegan) leather
Though I’m not vegan, I just feel better about wearing vegan leather.
There have been huge improvements in the look and feel of vegan leather over the last 5-10 years.
If you tried it before and didn’t like it, you might want to try it again.
I love these faux leather leggings in chocolate brown.
And these ones in classic black.
For a straight leg look, these wide leg vegan leather pants are cute.
This soft vegan leather jacket would look great with jeans (regular or insulated – see #5 below!).
Top off your winter outfit with this stylish faux leather satchel.
5. Chunky turtleneck sweater and extra warm jeans
Though you’re not going to catch a cold if you expose your neck in the winter (like my mom always told me when I was a kid!), you will feel extra cozy to have it covered in a cute turtleneck sweater.
I love this chunky turtleneck in this dusty rose color.
And if you’re someone who is always cold, I have a secret fashion tip that will change your life on cold weather days:
I had NO idea how life-changing this one item would be in my winter outfits wardrobe, but they are FANTASTIC.
I stay warm and cozy at home when I’m writing at my laptop not moving around.
Warm in drafty cafes with doors that are constantly opening and letting winter air in.
Warm walking to school to pick up my daughter.
Seriously, get a pair or two. I have one in blue denim, and a black pair.
6. Knit bodycon dress
No matter your size or shape, a knit bodycon dress will accentuate your own personal shape.
Even if you’re scared of fitted lycra-type bodycon dresses, a knit bodycon dress can be super flattering.
I think everyone should have at least one fitted knit dress as part of their winter outfits.
This cozy fitted dress comes in over two dozen colors (I want several of them!).
This one is gorgeous and comes in lots of plus sizes (it gets amazing reviews too).
And here is a beautiful knit maxi dress to hug those curves.
7. Ski inspired winter outfits
This is the I-don’t-ski-but-I-look-like-I-do look.
(Bonus points if you actually ski.)
Merino wool is the material you want if you want to stay warm while you’re active outside (or while you go for your latte run).
This matching merino set is too pretty to be covered up.
For a splurge, I own a few pieces of this high-end outdoors wear brand and they are worth every penny.
I want one of these ski rompers in every color. I love the thumbhole feature to keep your hands warm.
For your outer layer, this is a cute (and surprisingly thrifty) white ski jacket that will look as good off the slopes as on.
Enjoy your winter!
